wordpress logo blueSpeed up your Wordpress Blog 300%. Speed really matters.
One thing bloggers usually forget while designing and adding widgets and scripts to site, is the loading speed for their blog. A faster blog performs better in the web, that’s a well-known fact. Even if you’ve got tons of information and facilities in your blog, a slow site turns visitors away.

So I have 10 tips that will drastically improve your blog speed. Read and apply them and see the change in google webmaster tools.

For Wordpress Blogs-
1.Use Cache- If you have a Wordpress blog – Use WP cache, W3 cache or WP Supercache plugins, nothing increases your blog speed like the cache plug-in which serves static html instead of dynamic content. That makes your site faster and more stable.

2. Choose a right theme- Some themes are good-looking but are unfriendly in the internet. Use SEO friendly, simple but attractive color-combination. Use cleaner theme as far as possible. I onced used a gorgeous theme but had to retreat as it consumed lot of resource and was damn slow.

3.Use only Necessary Plug-in: Playing with plug-ins is fun in wordpress but too many plug-ins slows down loading speed of your site and may cause server problems. Use the right ones and only necessary ones. read Essential Wordpress Plug-ins

4.Optimize Database- Database can slow-down your site if not optimized properly. But beware always backup database before playing with it. Try Wp-optimize plug-in to delete duplicate posts and optimize tables.

5.Gzip compression - will eventually help to drastically decrease the size of all components of the site and serves in small form. It will not affect the user experience except for site loading faster.

6.Choose a Good Webhost- A good webhost is always a key to success of a webmaster. Choose the best one and if you are buying from a reseller see that he doesn’t over sell his account.

7.Compress javascript and css - to maximize your speed optimization.

8.Use least number of Http requests as possible : every link form your webpage makes a call called https, Images, links, etc all increases http requests. Lower you keep it, faster your site loads.

9. Use minimum number of external widgets and tracking codes. And always put the external scripts and codes in footer or at last so that it does not affect your page-load. Use google analytics code on footer.

10. Always use html color for background and page design instead of pictures. And if possible load image into external server like from flick account, picasa . It will even save your bandwidth.
Bonus tip- Do not crowd your site with ads, specially pop-ups, use optimal number and it will do good for you.
